As we explore adding new bamboo brands to our store, I was curious about Goumi. As far as online bamboo communities go, talk about Goumi has been relatively, well, quiet.
Not being ready to commit to a wholesale order, I used a referral coupon and got my son 2 pairs of their two piece lounge wear.
About Goumi Kids
Goumi first started with gloves and mittens and has expanded to sleepwear, bedding, clothing, and more! At time of writing, they have a decent following on Instagram of 141k followers. Their products are made from a blend of materials and thoughtful and purposeful designs.
They have a mix of solids and prints. They have booties, mitts and gowns in preemie size, but their footies run from NB to 18-24 months, and lounge wear goes from 2T to 5T.
Some features of the Goumi footies include:
- 2-way zipper
- Convertible footies (from romper to sleeper and back)
- Build in mitts for sizes 0-6 months
- Reinforced knees
- Bum flap for diaper checks
What are Goumi clothing items made from?
Their loungewear, which I purchased for my 3 year old son, is made from 70% viscose from bamboo and 30% organic cotton. A lot of other brands use bamboo viscose and spandex, so I’m definitely a fan of the organic cotton blend. Spandex is a synthetic fiber that typically ends up as non-recyclable waste because the fibers are difficult to recycle.
My Thoughts on Goumi Loungewear
I also think that using cotton instead of spandex leads to the fabric being thicker and more durable. It may not feel as soft or silky as Kyte BABY or Little Sleepies though.
I think the loungewear is ideal for daytime wear, and as heavier pajamas.
I was honestly very impressed with the quality, packaging, even the luxury feel of the product tags. I like their unique prints and how they are all very gender-neutral!
I’m not sure what to think about the sizing. My son is pictured above wearing a 5T shirt which has lots of room to grow it looks like! He typically wears a 4T in Little Sleepies and a 4T/5T in Kyte BABY. He is currently 39 inches tall and weighs 39.5 lbs and turned 3 years old a month ago.
