Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat Recall (Manufactured between 2020-2023)

Britax Safety Recall Notice: Certain Discontinued B-Safe and Endeavours Car Seats

Britax Child Safety, Inc. has announced a recall affecting certain discontinued B-Safe 35, B-Safe Ultra, B-Safe Gen2, B-Safe Gen2 FlexFit, B-Safe Gen2 FlexFit Plus, and Endeavours car seats manufactured between August 17, 2020, and May 16, 2023.

According to Britax, the affected products may include a condition involving the handle hub that, after extended use and under certain wear conditions, could result in potential handle detachment. This could create a fall hazard and potential risk of injury to the child.

These models are discontinued and are no longer sold by Britax and have not been manufactured since 2023.

Can the Car Seat Still Be Used?

Britax states that this potential condition does not affect the safety performance of the car seat when it is properly secured in a motor vehicle or attached to a stroller. Consumers may continue to use the car seat in those configurations.

However, caregivers should not lift or carry the car seat by the carry handle until the remedy kit has been installed.

Recall Remedy

Britax is working with the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the timing of the recall and the remedy for consumers.

Britax is developing and validating a remedy kit for potentially affected products. The relevant function of the remedy kit will be to further secure the hub mount assembly to the car seat’s shell using an additional component. Consumers will receive instructions for installing the remedy kit.

The consumer remedy is currently expected to be available by October 17, 2026.

Consumers should register their products with Britax to ensure they receive applicable recall notifications and information about repair kits directly from Britax.

Car Seat Expiration Reminder

Britax notes that the safety and performance of a child restraint system can deteriorate over time because of factors including material aging, wear and tear, and changes in safety standards. For this reason, all child restraints have a designated expiration date.

Expired car seats should not be used.

Britax also states that it is a violation of Federal law to sell or deliver any recalled products to consumers.

A Note for Blossom Customers

Blossom did not sell any of the affected car seat models or model numbers included in this recall, so customers who purchased their car seats from Blossom are not affected. We are sharing this recall information as a public service announcement for families who may own one of these discontinued Britax models purchased elsewhere.
