The Nuna Pipa Lite RX has been discontinued since July 2023 while Nuna works on updating a new lightweight option ahead of upcoming legislation regarding infant car seats.

Initially the changes were meant to be completed by December of 2023 when the line would relaunch, but in November, Nuna announced they decided to incorporate some feature changes based on consumer feedback and will rebrand the line as the Pipa Aire RX to distinguish it from previous Pipa Lite models.

The all-new Pipa Aire RX is now available, so let’s take a look!

Nuna Pipa Aire RX Pricing

The Nuna Pipa Aire RX is now available at $550. The Nuna Pipa RX is currently available for $400, and the Pipa URBN is available only with stroller bundles at this time.

Nuna Pipa Aire Compatibility

The Pipa Aire is still part of the Pipa family and such will be compatible with car seats, strollers, adapters, and more that work with the Nuna Pipa. The Pipa Aire RX uses the Nuna RELX base and the same ring adapters available with Nuna’s strollers like the Triv NEXT, Mixx Next, and Demi Next, as well as older strollers.

The accessories for the Pipa line also work with the new Pipa Aire RX. We suspect the footmuff, originally designed for the Pipa Lite RX will also fit the Aire RX due to the placement of magnets on it for the Sky Drape and buckle holders.

Nuna Pipa Aire Color Fashions

The Pipa Aire RX is launching in the Caviar (black) fashion, but other colors will be made available towards the end of Spring. Hazel, Granite, and Ocean are expected to launch the end of April 2024.

Pipa Aire RX vs Pipa RX Weight

The Nuna Pipa Aire RX is lighter than the Pipa RX weighing in at 6.2 lbs (without canopy and inserts which add 2.2 lbs) vs 7.6 lbs (without canopy and inserts which adds 1.0 lbs).

Pipa Aire RX vs Pipa RX Materials

The Pipa Aire RX continues the material legacy of the former Pipa Lite RX by using Merino Wool and organic cotton materials instead of the organic jersey

Product Usage

The Pipa RX can be used from 4-32 lbs and up to 32 inches. The new Pipa Aire RX can be used from 4-30 lbs and up to 30 inches.

Style and Features

The Pipa Aire RX has magnetic buckle holders, whereas the Pipa RX has the clip pockets.

The Pipa Aire RX also uses AeroflexTM foam for the shell and has a new memory foam for energy absorption.

The Pipa Aire RX does not mention a peek-a-boo window in the canopy that is currently present in the Pipa RX, but from the pictures it DOES appear to be present.

A design choice for the Pipa Aire RX is the use of a black metal handle vs the silver on the Pipa RX. The Pipa URBN also sports the black handle. The leather carry handles on the Pipa Aire RX and the Pipa RX are brown on all color styles except Ocean, which are black.

The Pipa Aire RX is available in Caviar, Granite, Hazelwood, and Ocean fashions at time of writing.
