While developing the next generation of PIPA Car Seats, NUNA has pushed back the launch of the redesigned seats until March 2024. The new seats will launch under a new platform name of PIPA aire and PIPA aire RX. More details will be made available closer to the new launch date!

Pipa Lite RX is currently unavailable in Caviar, Granite, Hazelwood, Frost, and Riveted. Lagoon and Camel are still currently available.
The new PIPA Lite RX is set to launch on 12/1/2023 in Caviar, Hazelwood, Granite, and Ocean.
Due to upcoming changes to the product line, the Nuna PIPA Lite RX will have limited availability until Fall 2023. All Nuna PIPA car seats pass current safety standards, and go above and beyond what’s required to ensure compliance.
Availability of the PIPA Lite RX will be limited this summer while Nuna makes changes to the product line to ensure advanced compliance with proposed car seat safety standards, expected to be passed this summer.
What’s changing with Car Seat Standards?
The federal government is in the process of updating the current FMVSS 213 car seat standard in order to modernize them and ensure continued effectiveness of car seats in current and future vehicles. One of the new standards will include side impact performance requirements as well as the currently required frontal impact testing for child car seats.
When will these new standards take effect?
Once the new standards are passed, compliance would be required by June 30th, 2025. Because Nuna strives to be at the forefront of engineering standards, they are proactively making design changes in anticipation of these updated standards.
Which Nuna Pipa Lite RX Car Seats are Out of Stock?
The colors Caviar and Hazelwood are currently out of stock with Nuna and with us. Ocean is out of stock with Nuna but we still have some available inventory.

What are good alternatives to the PIPA Lite RX?
The PIPA RX is the most comparable to the PIPA Lite RX. The biggest differences between the two are:
- PIPA RX weighs 7.6 lbs and the PIPA Lite RX weighs 6.9 lbs
- PIPA RX has organic jersey fabric and the PIPA Lite RX has Merino Wool
- The PIPA RX does not have a No-rethread harness or the fixed adjustable head support like the PIPA Lite RX
